2048 is a calm number puzzle with a sharp strategic edge. The board has sixteen spaces arranged in a four by four grid. At the start, two tiles appear with the value 2 or 4. Use the arrow keys, WASD keys, or a swipe on a touch screen to move every tile in one direction. When two tiles with the same value collide, they become one tile with double the value, and your score increases by that new value.

A move only counts when at least one tile changes position or a merge happens. After every valid move, a new 2 or 4 appears in an empty space. The goal in this version is to reach 524288, so small mistakes can matter later. Try to keep your highest tile in a corner, build a stable chain beside it, and avoid scattering large numbers across the board. Slow play usually beats rushed swiping.

On desktop, keep one hand near the arrow keys or WASD and scan the board before each move. On mobile, short controlled swipes work best. The game saves your best score in this browser, supports light and dark mode, and lets you continue after winning. If the grid fills and no equal neighboring tiles can touch, the game ends.
